What Is the Weather?

Sometimes it is rainy. Sometimes the sky is clear and sunny. Weather is what is happening in the air at any one place and time. In different place there are many different kinds of weather. It can even rain on one side of a city and be dry on the other side. That is why we need to give the name of the place when we talk about the weather. We also need to give the time, because the weather can change very quickly.

When you look around you to see what the weather is, you are making observations. The weather can be cloudy or sunny, warm or cold, wet or dry. What else can the weather be? Sometimes when you make observations of the weather will be. Whenever you use your observations to tell what the weather will be, we say you predict the weather.
